Anesthesiology at NYU Langone Medical Center
Professor and Chairman
The Department of Anesthesiology at New York University has a long and distinguished history in the development of academic anesthesia in the 20th century. Now, at the beginning of the 21st century, we are continuing our tradition of outstanding clinical care and a commitment to resident education. Clinical teaching has always been emphasized in our program, and has resulted in outstanding performance of our residents on the in-training examination and in ultimate board certification. While building on the existing strengths of the department, new emphasis will be placed on basic and clinical research in the areas of anesthetic mechanisms, critical care, and pain management. New faculty are being recruited in these areas and the medical school is providing new laboratory space for the Department of Anesthesiology.
